Basic Information about the Credit Act
The National Credit Act Nr 34 of 2005 regulates consumer credit transactions. The credit act provides regulations regarding debt review procedures, credit history recording, appointment of debt counsellors and the negotiation of debt payments with creditors. As such it is one law that has been put in place to help the over indebted individual and to provide various forms of protection against exploitation by debt counsellors and harassment by creditors. As such any debt counsellor registered with the NCR will be listed and will have to act within the boundaries set by the law. You as the consumer are thus protected ensuring that when dealing with an accredited debt counsellor that the person or company will have your interests at heart.
